Give a book.
Grow a community.

We’re accepting gently used books for Read & Rabbit's shelves to help everyone enjoy books and to foster a sacred space. The sacred space is you - we also hold events to connect people, encourage their creativity & empower them to be their best selves, be kind to themselves and to others.

Books Wanted

We want your preloved books which still have a keen market:

Books should be complete with all their pages and any jacket, clean, dust free, stickers neatly removed from the front and undamaged (unless very slight wear). Books should not be written in but can have an inscription or a limited amount of underlining.

We'd love art, photography and other coffee table books. Trains/railways books are great too. Modern ‘How to’ books as well as modern psychology/self help are brill, as long as the information is still relevant and useful for today’s world and published post 2000.

If we have too many of a certain book or just don’t think we will be able to find a new home for it, we may decline your kind offer for that reason. Books for children and young adults or cookery books are no longer accepted.

The list of books we do not accept is below.

Sorry, but

Sorry, but we cannot accept...

  • Fiction written pre 2000 unless a classic not on shelf already or vintage binding

  • Text books for school subjects or courses unless to help learn a language so not out of date

  • Reader’s Digest

  • Mass prints such as Dickens or Shakespeare

  • Encyclopaedia collections

  • Dictionaries or thesaurus

  • Maps

  • Cookery and sports practice or health books.

  • Books for children or teens.

  • Most books on Business, Economics, Sociology, Education, Politics, Law, Geography or Theology.

  • Akin to Barter Books we do not accept books that were once in fashion and now are out eg Jaws, Jane Fonda Keep Fit, Royal family books, Margaret Thatcher, etc.

  • Non fiction that is no longer relevant.

If you have a yen to run a bookshop near the sea, we’re your place. You could also sell your own goods on the popup table, launch your book, host an event or just enjoy the thrill of bookshop ownership - that is making no money but making many beautiful connections with people.
