If you have a yen to run a bookshop near the sea, we’re your place. You could also sell your own goods on the popup table, launch your book, host an event or just enjoy the thrill of bookshop ownership - that is making no money but making many beautiful connections with people.
I (Marta) am a frustrated writer, diagnosed with ADHD in her 50s, who has been asked for a decade by friends when they will be able to watch the brilliant Netflix series they are waiting for me to write. I had this idea that if I stayed in the house of a writer on airbnb that would help as writing groups have really helped my productivity. That is how a google search had me stumble on to my inspiration 'The Open Book bookshop holiday in Wigtown'. They have a waiting list and I love creating experiences for people so that is how we got here. I also love buying books. I love a home filled with books and art.

Minimum stay is 3 nights with checkin Fri, Sat, Mon or Tues and bigger the discount for longer the stay. Price is similar to Wigtown’s £1287 (as at Dec 2025) for 6 nights for up to 2 in their one bedrooom. We can accommodate 4 across 2 bedrooms. Price increases with number of people staying.
